ABOUT ME

Hi, I’m Alec, a psychologist with a background in both organisational and clinical/counselling psychology.

Before becoming a psychologist, I worked in management consulting across large "big four" and small firms. I saw firsthand how chronic stress, perfectionism, and burnout can quietly become normalised within high-pressure professional environments, and those experiences shaped the kind of psychologist I wanted to become. I was drawn toward work that felt more human, relational, and meaningful, creating spaces where people slow down and unpack what they're carrying.

Today I work with adults navigating anxiety, stress, and the everyday weight of managing a complicated life, whether that's showing up in relationships, at work, or just in how you're feeling day to day. Given my background, many of my clients come to me carrying real professional responsibility, and workplace stress or a WorkCover claim is often part of the picture. But plenty of people come to me for other reasons entirely.

Having spent years working across both private practice and bulk billing settings, I've built experience supporting clients with a large range of things. If you're stuck, overwhelmed, or just know something needs to shift, I'd be glad to help.

ABOUT ME

From pressure and performance to meaning and connection

I grew up in regional Victoria, in a community where mental health wasn’t often talked about. That early silence taught me how people learn to survive without support. By pushing through emotional pain alone, often without the language or tools to make sense of their inner world.

That understanding only deepened over the years that followed. I spent three and a half years studying law, working as a paralegal in law firms alongside my studies, before moving into management consulting.

Across both fields, I saw similar things play out again and again: environments that placed enormous demands and expectations on people, often with little regard for what it cost them. Often showing up as chronic stress, perfectionism, and emotional suppression; these were the ways people learned to cope, ways that got them through the day, but weren't sustainable, and often came at a real personal cost.

Those experiences shaped the kind of psychologist I wanted to become. I found myself drawn toward work that felt more human, relational, and meaningful.

Therapy is not about fixing weakness.

It is understanding what has happened, what has been carried, and what is now needed to move forward sustainably. I offer a warm, non-judgemental space to slow down, unpack wounds, and explore what’s happening beneath the surface.

My approach to therapy is thoughtful, grounded, and human. One that creates space not only for relief, but for understanding, self-compassion, and sustainable change.
